The Kootenay Lake Ferry links this highway at Kootenay Bay and Balfour. This detour trip will add extra traveling time but well worth the delay.

Another route well worth the trip is Highway #23 From Revelstoke across Arrow Lake on the Arrow Park Ferry. When you arrive at Shelter Bay, follow Highway #23 until Nakusp and then along Highway #6 to Castlegar. The scenery will not disappoint.
