Our Christina Lake Provincial Park has recently become one of few BC Parks with access to a Mobi-Mat, a specialized floating chair, and accessible parking spaces. These features are wonderful additions for those who require them, but also are intended to be a reflection of the community’s strength when we work together. The lake is for everybody, and the reminder these features serve of this is among their best qualities. Happy trails, everyone!
A 92 foot long Mobi-Mat is made of a tough material that allows wheelchair access to the water. the mat is set up at the far left of the beach and is out between May and September depending on water levels.
The most recent addition to our accessibility options, the floating chair is available for anyone who has a support person with them. A waiver is issued at the Christina Lake Welcome Center through Tourism, who will also assist on site at the park to unlock and set up the chair. A life jacket can be provided and is mandatory for use. To ensure regulation and security of the equipment, we ask that a card is left with Tourism as collateral, which will be returned once the chair is put away.
Designated accessibility parking is available near the washrooms/change rooms for better access to the lake.
There are two staging areas for the Trans Canada which are the most ideal for accessibility parking, making it easier to enjoy the popular Christina Lake sights along the trail.
Across the highway from the Welcome Center is Santa Rosa road. The staging area is located up the mountain, just before the pavement ends on the left hand side. This section of the trail brings you to a lookout over the Lake, and is available for all to enjoy! You can get the directions here.
Following the 395 just past the Cascade Falls will lead you to the staging area that brings you closest to the grand trestle bridge. Its a view perfect for an evening walk, which you can find here.

The Kootenay Robusters is a non-profit organization for breast cancer survivors and associates to experience physical, emotional, spiritual and mental wellness at a level that they find comfortable and personally challenging. Through the paddling experience, it is their aim to raise awareness of breast cancer and the uplifting truth that there is life after breast cancer.
The Kootenay Robusters are in their 13th season of paddling in Christina Lake and always welcome new paddlers. Everyone on the team is a volunteer and each member contributes to the organization by serving on the various committees that are needed to make the team function. Money raised through sales of their annual calendar – a project which allows them to operate their paddling program while keeping costs low for any woman who wants to participate. As well as contributing to the yearly donation of $5000.00 to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital – this time for a digital mammography machine.
The Kootenay Robusters also took part in Relays for Life in three communities and also had participants in the CIBC Run for the Cure. Throughout the year they attended events at local businesses such as Shoppers’ Look Good Feel Better , Mark’s Work Wearhouse Ladies’ Day, and Castlegar Rec’s Parade of Programs.
The team’s big adventure was attending the San Francisco Dragon Boat Festival, where they fulfilled their mission to raise breast cancer awareness by being the only breast cancer team participating – and attracted a lot of attention in their bright pink shirts and PFDs.
Anyone interested in joining the team regardless of fitness level, age or being personally affected by breast cancer, are welcome to join and bring awareness to this important cause. Please contact Kootenay Robusters to let them know you will be paddling and to find the location of the boat launch.
Weekly Practice: From May- Middle of September Practice 3 times/week active Tuesday, Thursday evenings 6pm-7:30pm and Saturday mornings from 9-11am. There is also a paddling machine in each community which can be used individually by The Robusters in the off season.

Annual Events: Annual Calendar Sales begin every September for sale at several local businesses in Christina Lake, Trail, Rossland , Castlegar and surrounding areas. Anyone wanting to submit a picture for next years Calendar 2015, please email to joycliff(@telus.net.)

Christina Lake has several playgrounds for kids to enjoy. Situated on Park Road adjacent to the tennis courts and across the street from the ball diamond, the Christina Lake Community Playground has plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained including a tire set, a new adventure center and ample space to run around, in a fenced area for safety.
There is also a newly developed a Bike Pump Park for those budding biking enthusiasts, as well as an outdoor exercise park and Pickle Ball Courts. Two blocks away at 49 West Lake Drive, the Christina Lake Elementary School also has a new adventure center, with lots of open space for soccer and outdoor fun.
Behind the Welcome Centre, adjacent the nature park, just off of Hwy #3, is a small playground with slide and swing, perfect for a quick play and pit stop along your travels.
The gymnasium at Christina Lake Elementary School is used for many indoor recreational activities year round including volleyball, badminton, and floor hockey. Contact the school for more information and schedules: 447-9423.
The Christina Lake Community Hall is used by many different exercising groups throughout the week, for more information and schedules please call the Community hall at 250-447-9251.
Catch a ball game at the baseball diamond located adjacent to the Community Hall at 90 Park Road. There are numerous games and tournaments throughout the summer. Pick a team and cheer them on. No game? You and your friends can practice.
Our baseball diamond was redeveloped in the Spring of 2009 with new bases, markings, scoreboards and painting. The park has covered stands, a concession, two dugouts, and lighting for night games. There is ample parking for players and spectators alike. Washrooms and a children’s play park are across the street.
Christina Lake has three courts just across the street from the ball diamond on Park Road. They are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tennis whites are definitely optional.
Named after the lake’s “father of tennis” who taught generations of residents to play, the courts have been rejuvenated with Sport Court, a plastic all weather interlocking tile surface that provides excellent footing, joint saving cushioning and an aesthetically perfect appearance.
