Funded by the Ministry for Children & Family Development, the goal of the Aboriginal Family Support (AFS) Program is to provide emotional and practical support to Aboriginal (First Nations, Metis & Inuit) children, youth and families using a culturally respectful and client centred approach.
The AFS program creates partnerships to coordinate community cultural events, like the Family Fun Events, socials and gatherings. It is the link between the Boundary All Nations Aboriginal Council (BANAC) and the Boundary Metis Community Association (BMCA).
The Afs program hosts a weekly cultural support group almost every Friday for Aboriginal children, youth and families and non-Aboriginal people interested in learning about, embracing and respecting our various cultural traditions and activities. With access to the playroom and a kitchen, Friday group is truly fun for the whole family! A children’s drumming group is facilitated twice a month!
